The short film “The Legal Lives of Lovers” is a comedic take on the contemporary Western demand for justice in an ever-growing number of aspects of social life. The film examines the limits of civil justice as a regulator of human relationships. The question is simple: Can the judicial system deliver justice in a breakup? Can it punish betrayal? Can it criminalize emotional pain?
